Empowering Young Minds

We are a youth-led initiative creating inclusive classroom libraries to foster a love for reading among children in rural India.

Join Our Mission

Our Mission

Founded by two young siblings, the Young Minds Library Project empowers children in rural India through the magic of reading—promoting literacy, creativity, and confidence.

Our libraries are free and open to all—no fines, no barriers, and no discrimination. We provide safe, inclusive spaces where children discover stories that inspire growth and equality.

Why Classroom Libraries?

Volunteers arranging books

In many rural communities, children lack access to books and resources that encourage reading. Classroom libraries bring learning directly into classrooms, bridging gaps in literacy and creating opportunities for self-learning and curiosity.

Our initiative helps students build confidence and communication skills through engaging, age-appropriate books in English and Telugu.

Our Approach

📚 Curated Libraries

We source and catalog books across genres—from picture stories to science, fantasy, and biographies—in both English and Telugu, tailored for ages 8–15.

🤝 Student Leadership

Trained “Library Leaders” manage the libraries, encouraging peer-led reading cultures and responsibility among students.

🎤 Reading Programs

We host read-alouds, readathons, and storytelling sessions that build enthusiasm and fluency in reading.

Our Impact

Since our founding, the Young Minds Library has transformed learning environments in rural Andhra Pradesh. We have built classroom libraries that nurture imagination, confidence, and curiosity. Every child now has the opportunity to read, share, and grow — one story at a time.
